MLB DRAFT History

Apex’s 2022 draft class was highlighted by 6 of the top 88 draft picks, with all 6 clients at or above slot bonuses.

Since 2013, Apex Baseball has advised 39 top-2 Round Picks - 4th most of any agency in baseball.

Apex Baseball has negotiated over $100mm in draft bonuses in the last 10 years. 

With a focus on client needs, and a small, concentrated overall class, Apex continues to be the premier and dynamic mid-sized agency. 

DRAFT Approach

While each pick, player, and family are ultimately unique in their own ways, our Apex team, led by Adam Karon and John Furmaniak, maximize the financial, developmental, and personal needs for each of our clients.

Our two first round picks in the 2023 draft were advised by Apex Baseball out of high school but chose to attend college after being advised to turn down second-round money in the 2020 draft.

With multiple Day-1 Draft picks – Apex Baseball continues to pave the way of prioritizing individual needs and assuring the best fit financially and developmentally.

In 2023, each player’s draft position exceeded their pre-draft ranges & expert predictions (per MLB Pipeline) – Tommy was ranked 17th, Brock 25th, and Luke 90th.

ARBITRATION RECENT HISTORY

The team at Apex Baseball negotiated more than 200 arbitration settlements and awards in the last twenty years. Since the 2020 Season, Apex oversaw 5 client cases in 2022, 10 in 2023, and is on track to negotiate as many as 14 cases in 2024. 

In 2024, Apex secured a $8.55mm arb salary for Will Smith, breaking a 10-year record for a 2SAE Catcher

Blake Treinen’s $6.4mm Arb Award in 2019 was largest raise in history for a 2SAE reliever
